City / Urban Locations
Click on images to enlarge. Keep in mind that some things may change between when I last visited them and when we go next. There is no guarantee that photos will be exactly the same as shown. Time of day, time of the year/season, weather conditions, traffic, crowds, outfits, comfort in posing, skin tone, etc can all play a factor in the outcome of the photo.
Pittsburgh North Shore
Pros:
- River Trail (paved path)
- Many options here (could do an entire session)
- Yellow bridges
- Downtown PGH in the background
- options for Warhol wall (depending on current condition)
Cons:
- Baseball or football stadium events on the North Shore can make this area overly crowded
Pittsburgh - Cultural District
About:
- Pittsburgh, PA
- Near the North Shore
Pros:
- Many options here
- Within walking distance to North Shore spots
Cons:
- Plays/shows at nearby theaters can make this slightly crowded, but manageable
- Bring comfortable shoes because we will be walking multiple city blocks
The Highline
- Pittsburgh, PA (between Station Square and South Side)
Pros:
- Options for overlooking the city as well as small business/store fronts
- Usually less crowded during the day
Cons:
- I try to go here earlier in the day. There is a restaurant that serves beer and has outdoor seating. I've never had anything happen or said, but I don't want to invite the opportunity.
Color Park
- Pittsburgh, PA (next to the Highline)
Pros:
- Colorful graffiti park
- Unique
Cons:
- Once a year it is completely painted white, but it could be at anytime (usually in spring)
- Graffiti is allowed by anyone - so watch for vulgar backgrounds
- Not a ton of options but is right next to Highline which has more options
East Liverpool, OH
Pros:
- Same feel as Sewickley "small town" urban feel
- Less busy, rarely crowded
- Has light colored bridge
Cons:
- Not recommended if the "big city" feel is what you want
Other Options:
- Point State Park, Pittsburgh, PA
- Herr's Island (images coming soon)
- Near the river by David L Lawrence Convention Center
- Open to ideas! Just ask!
